Nestled on the Lake Arsenal shores and the beautiful Cano Negro River Valley, Rancho Margot is a family-owned sustainable tourism lodge. Surrounded by a verdant rainforest landscape, Rancho Margot shines for its exemplary efforts in the field of conservation and community development. The owner of the lodge the Sotheim family is fastidious about maintaining the right sustainable policies, initiating innumerable conservation programs and activities through which they are sharing their expertise in the field of eco-conservation with guests.

Location:

The lodge property is located in an UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, in the middle of the rainforest. In its property it has a working farm, a pig farm, an organic vegetable/fruit plantation, a medicinal plant zone and a cute chicken farm. This lodge is also attracts a lot of tourists as this is close to the Arenal Volcano (has been active for the last 50 years and is the subject of research studies due to its landform and to the flora and fauna).

Accommodation:

bunk-houseRancho Margot eco-lodge provides 17 deluxe bungalows and dormitory style bunk house. Bungalows are nicely hidden within its spectacular botanical gardens. Each of the bungalows are featured with a private bath including shower along with a private terrace overlooking amazing views of the natural surroundings. These bungalows can accommodate up to 4 people and include two queen beds or one queen bed and two singles (all beds with orthopedic mattresses) and hammock. If you have limited budget you can stay at the bunk house that also offers comfortable rooms and has shared bathrooms. Volunteers and students will find these bunk houses perfect. Bunkhouses features 5 showers, 5 toilets and a common space for everyone where you can enjoy fun time with your friends.

Activities:

While staying at the Rancho Margot, you can enjoy volunteer works and you will be rewarded with free stays at the retreat. People who want to work as volunteer, they are required to bring their contribution for a month and to be experienced in yoga, agriculture, customer service, marketing, cooking, and construction or in household activities. In this lodge learning is at the top of all activities. This lodge also organize different trips such as horseback riding, kayaking on the Lake Arenal, thrilling wildlife night hike within the adjoining jungle. This lodge also offers Yoga training sessions along with offering the perfect setting for conducting yoga retreats. You can also experience pure relaxation with revitalizing massage treatments and Reiki sessions in the lodge’s full-fledged Healing Center (in a beautiful, secluded spot, amidst verdant gardens and above a tiny brook). Rancho Margot runs a project named “Rancho Margot’s Eco-Literacy Student Learning” which focuses on discovering the wildlife of the rain forest, on organic agriculture and reforestation, on recycling, and on cooking fresh healthy meals. You can also join the educational programs and workshops designed for both –adults and children and can take Spanish language classes.
